BAG STORIES:

Commission an original piece

Bespoke making is an exclusive process that gives complete control to the customer. As the client, you enter into an ongoing dialogue with me and together we create a one-of-a-kind bag or accessory that not only appeals to your specific needs, but also to your unique aesthetics and sensibilities. Find more details about the process in the dropdown menu, or send me an email via the form at the bottom of the page.

“From concept to design, aesthetics combined with functionality, sourcing materials, through to the supreme craftswomanship and care taken, this whole experience has been a joy!

- Veena G.

  • Send me an email and I will get in touch with you and start the conversation by asking you a number of questions to find out what you have in mind with regards to functionality and style. This first chat might be in person, via phone or email and is free of charge. What leather do you imagine, which thread colour, what hardware? What does your bag need to do to for you?

  • After the initial consultation I prepare a proposal which generally includes leather samples, thread colour, hardware and a design sketch as well as an estimate of total cost. Please understand that as a small business I need to charge a flat fee of $120 for this part. However, this fee will be deducted from your final price should you agree to proceed with your order.

  • If we decide to go ahead and you become one of my ‘bag stories’ I will ask you to name your bag. I need to know who is on my work bench and you can look forward to receiving them. It makes the whole process so much more fun.

  • Once a design has been agreed on and you are happy to proceed I will send you a quote. Please sign the quote and return it. To commence the work you need to pay a 50% deposit of the total price. The full amount will need to be paid before delivery.

“This is my second handbag purchase from Kattasche and once again I am overjoyed. “

”A few months ago I realised I needed help if I was ever to stop losing my keys, work passes, have room for my reading glass, my long distance glasses and all the other junk that I need. So I made an appointment with Katja, brought over everything - dumped it on her table and said "please make me a bag'. And she did!”

“I've had it for a month now and it is perfect for me! She listened carefully, and came up with the perfect solution - that is also the most beautiful bag I have ever seen.”
